ORCHESTRA STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN REGIONAL HONORS CLINIC Several Watauga County orchestra students took part in 2009 NC Western Regional Junior Honors Orchestra this past April. Students were selected by audition earlier in the spring, and assembled for a one day clinic of rehearsal and a culminating performance in the afternoon. The event was held on April 25th, 2009 at Lenoir Rhyne College in Hickory, and showcased the best middle school musicians from WNC and the Piedmont. Orchestra students from many schools in Watauga County participated in the event. Hardin Park musicians were Doria K., violin, Alina K., violin, Ryan H., violin, and Patrick C., cello. Doria was selected as the winner of the violin auditions and served as the concertmaster for the Honors Orchestra under the direction of Dr. Dean Angeles of Asheville, guest conductor for the event. Watauga Co. music teachers Beth Winkler, Joy Pritchett, and Will Selle also attended and represented their students at the Orchestra clinic.
