First Lego League Award

Congratulations to the following students who competed in this weekend's First Lego League competition!  FLL is a robotics program for 9 to 16 year olds, which is designed to get children excited about science and technology.  The team had to build a robot that would perform tasks.  They also had to make a skit, discuss core values, talk about their robot design and features.

Parent Assist Training

NCWISE Parent Assistant is a new web-based application to help parents track their student’s progress in school and is now available for parents of children in Watauga County schools.

Parents have two options available in order to receive their username and password:|
Option 1:
View the 4-minute video about NCWISE Parent Assistant.  Go to Hardin Park’s website (http://wataugasd.hpes.schoolfusion.us), and then click on Parent Links along the top of the screen. Click Parent Assist Module Video Tutorial to start the video.  After viewing the video, you must visit Hardin Park School, present your picture ID to Sandra Winebarger (Hardin Park’s NCWISE Data Manager) and sign a form in order to receive your username and password.

Option 2:  Attend a training session at Hardin Park School to receive a username and password to access NCWISE Parent Assistant.  At the training session, we will demonstrate the NCWISE Parent Assistant and answer any questions that you have.  Parents will be asked to provide a picture ID before they receive their username and password to protect the privacy of our students.

Training sessions will be provided as follows in the Middle School Computer Lab at Hardin Park.  Parents only need to attend one session and do not need to sign up ahead of time. The training sessions will last approximately 30 minutes.

February 6th @ 5:30pm (Monday)
February 7th @ 2:30pm (Tuesday)
February 8th @ 7:30am (Wednesday)
February 9th @ 2:30pm & 5:30pm (Thursday)

Hardin Park Limited Bus Route Information

This is the time of year when weather frequently causes us to modify our transportation plan.  This memo lists the limited routes for all Hardin Park’s busses.  Remember all these routes can be found on the Hardin Park School web site http://wataugasd.hpes.schoolfusion.us/.  Click the “Departments” tab, then click on transportation, then open the “limited routes” file.  The Alert Now automated calling system should call the number you have provided the school on mornings when school is delayed or closed.  If you are not sure you received the call, you may also call the Snowline at 264-0200.  Additionally, the Watauga County Schools website should post school closures and delays.

If routes are limited in the morning, a decision will be made during the day to determine if bus routes can be extended for the afternoon.  This decision should be made by 1:00 P.M. each afternoon.  If you are in question about whether routes are limited or not for the afternoon, you may call Hardin Park.

Please keep in mind that the bus driver’s number one priority is to get your child to school safely.  They will not travel a road if they believe by doing so will jeopardize your child’s safety.  Thank you for your support as we continue to strive for excellence.  If you have any questions please call 264-8481.

The times listed below are normal stop times for limited routes.  If there is a one hour delay add one hour to the stop time.  For instance if your normal limited route stop time is 6:45 it will be 7:45 on a one hour delay.  That same stop time will be 8:45 on a two hour delay.
